Surface map of the brown dwarf Luhman 16B. The map was created using Doppler Imaging methods and data from the CRIRES instrument on the VLT. Dark areas are regions of thicker clouds. Bright areas are regions of thinner clouds where radiation from the hotter interior can escape. The full analysis and results are presented in Crossfield, Biller, Schlieder et al. 2014 [Animation credit: I.J.M Crossfield.].
